Our projects concerning passive fire prevention

Stretching a ferry

A Scandinavian Ferry company assigned us to provide passive fire protection when extending two of their ships. The ships were cut in two, extended by 50 and 30 metres respectively and then rejoined. As a result the ships' cable bodies needed extending and all bulkheading was replaced. The most challenging aspect of this project was the degree of experience and know-how required in the areas of welding and electrics. We are proud that our products were chosen for this unique project. After successful reconstruction both ferries will safely set sail again.

The ICE. German technology in China.

Not only in Germany is the ICE a success. The comfortable high-speed train is now also well established on the Chinese market. Since August 1st, 2008 five trains of the models CRH 3 (Velaro CN) are operating the 115 km long Bejing - Tianjian connection. On this line the trains reach a maximum speed of 350 km/h making them the fastest regular service trains in the world.

The trains are based on the ICE3 model of Deutsche Bahn. Similar to the Russian model, the Chinese ICE is slightly wider. As in the German ICE fleet, AIK products were used in all Chinese trains offering all passengers the best protection against fire hazards.

Queen Mary II cruises with AIK

GEAQUELLO® is a sealing system consisting of three main components: swell modules, impregnation fluid and sealing compound. It is fireproof, air-tight and waterproof and is licensed by all main classification bodies and relevant national authorities. The Queen Mary II is an example of just how practical and safe this is. When building the cruise liner, the shipping company Cunard Line chose to use GEAQUELLO® E 950 sealing system, thus providing maximum safety.
